Developing Authenticity (inspired by Isyana Sarasvati-Unlock the Key)

3 weeks ago Isyana Sarasvati, one of my favorite singer just launched her new single entitled Unlock the Key. Boom! Wah gila sih! If you haven't heard it, you can check it bellow

Well, I know everyone have their own music genre's preferences . I'm not gonna force you to like that song. Actually since last year Isyana already shown her true color. She is trying to be honest with herself and putting all her energy thru music. Now she is showing her authenticity.

Isyana is growing up with classic and basically she is an opera singer. She's been a composer since a young age too! Isyana was in contract with Sony Music Indonesia and began to released that famous Tetap dalam Jiwa and Keep Being You. I personally like all her music, I think she is so talented and always sings well whatever genre she perform. R&B, electro pop, classic, even now a progressive  rock! *handsdown

Once when she released her LEXICON, I was shocked because it is unusual and it shows that she made her music more authentic regardless the market demand. It was a fusion of classic and rock, and I never imagined that it could be a genre that I enjoy a lottt. Now after releasing UNLOCK THE KEY with her own label (Redrose Record) I'm sure that she's been in so much effort adulting herself thru her music, and I know it's not easy.

Let us see the music industry in Indonesia, this kind of music probably is not for everyone. If we compare with the market, probably a pop or dangdut koplo is more familiar, yet easily got viral and gain more profit for the labels (It doesn't mean that I hate dangdut koplo, surprisingly I like it too πŸ˜†) Isyana has chosen her own way no matter what. She is putting her soul in her music, genuinely.

So what lesson can we learned from her? Being adult and in a quarter life crisis brought me here to write more and more about mental health, although I'm not a psychologist or practitioner. It doesn't mean that I'm already pass this stage smoothly, No. I'm still learning too.

Research has shown that authenticity has positive implications for individual well being. The concept of authenticity concern with examining and knowing ourselves, in order to live in a way which reflects our true calling. It also likely to have wide reaching positive impacts at work and in wider society.

So have you find your life goals? Have you see deep down in your heart who you really are?

Let's be real, we all now live in a social media era which likely shown us how to feel, how to react, even how to look good. We're sometimes hiding our true selves, wearing a mask so we could fit in. To know who our true selves actually are, we need to develop our self acceptance and mindfulness.

When we're self accepting we can embrace both our negative or positive side unconditionally. We should recognize our weakness and limitation. Don't judge your selves, don't try so hard. It is okay if we failed, it is okay to be different. God has a very specific purpose for our life.

Learn to forgive ourselves, whatever mistakes we have made in the past. But then, so has anybody else. Live in the present moment, don't make our past or future confine us.

Whatever society reacting to our choice it's all beyond our control. Stop think too much about something that we cannot control.

Be mindful, mindful means to be fully present, aware of what we're doing and where we are, and not overly reacted or overwhelmed by whatever going on around us. I know it is easier said than done. How could we not overwhelmed by someone who're so annoying and show their unrespect? We tend to blame the environment and society, without us knowing we have hurt ourselves.

Last but not least, I believe that developing authenticity takes time, and it's all a long live journey. At least we're trying 😁

I'm looking forward to hear about your journey

See you soon

Meskipun memang susah ngejalaninnya, betul, at least we're tryin':')
Semoga kita semua selalu diberikan kekuatan dan semangat dalam mencapai itu😊

    1. Iyaa, aku ngikutin perjalanan Isyana dan musiknya jadi kepikiran soal authenticity.
Susah memang jadi diri sendiri disaat lingkungan seperti mendikte how we should act or react.
      Keep trying, Awl <3
